Life Satisfaction Survey

Take the life satisfaction survey. What do you think of the survey? Did the results surprise you?

  1. I wasn’t surprised when I saw my survey results. I was actually somewhat disappointed in myself. I should be very happy; I have everything I’ve ever wanted. I have a great, loving, supportive boyfriend. We have a beautiful, funny, precocious, healthy 2 year old. I currently work at my dream job where there is a great work-life balance. We are financially stable. Yet my score says my life is not going in a direction I would like it to go. Why is that? I need guidance in learning how to find happiness? I thought happiness was a state of mind. I didn’t know I had to be taught how to be happy. I must be missing something. ..
It took me a couple of days to reflect on the question, “identify a single area you feel both enhances your life and is in some way connected to our world and nature”. There is a single area I feel would enhance my life, my family’s lives, and is connected to the world and nature and that is by growing our own crops. By eating healthy, fresh, local produce we would definitely reap the benefits. There would be satisfaction in growing something ourselves and knowing it's good for us. This is something that can be passed down from generation to generation, we just have to start by planting the first seed.

I scored 75 on my "life satisfaction survey"

And offered me the following advise.

My life is okay, but not always what I would like it to be. I could use some direction in making my life happier....

Personally im happy with my life, I felt the responses always, sometimes etc were not very good answers and to general and didn't allow me to be able to answer correctly or accurately score. The point system also favored what it considered to be good for an overall 1 type of honest perfect person. What if for me what it calculated as a negative for me was a positive and made me happier?

1 Identify a single area you feel both enhances your life and is in some way connect to our world and nature.

Personally i am not very Green at all and none of the questions allows me to connect to the planet and nature.

2 Think of a personal sustainability practice (PSP) that would improve your life and the life of others even in a small but significant way. Remember if each of us takes a small step it can result in a large change

I think i can start to always throw my trash away in the correct places. There are times were If i don't see a garbage near by i just leave it on the ground. I even kinda feel bad afterwords and i think this is a great way for me to start being more GREEN.

    3. Now think about whether or not this is something that is repeatable (is it a one time act or something you can do on a daily basis), is it sustainable and is it something you will enjoy?

This is def something i can repeat weekly and can come to enjoy and feel good about.

  3. When i took life satisfaction survey, i felt really down,It's a fact that my life is not happy. I've taken some decision and today i'm paying the consequences.
I'm trying the best that i can to reach that way of happiness but, i'm that kind of maverick's person whom, in every situation think that he can achieve something better, i still cannot reach happiness.
I just realized something, the only one way that my life will be happy, is when i start seeing the need of others like mine, making my life worth something, not to receive any praise but an internal satisfaction that i've been able to help.
I can enhance my life and attain the happiness, not beeing selfish but taking every step so a whole can benefit from.

  4. After taking the Life satisfaction survey, you can follow the link to take it yourself, www.thehappinesscenter.com/survey/survey.php , I have discovered that a few of my answers are ways that I feel only sometimes. Upon further examination of these questions and answers, it seems that the majority of them are directly related to my personal life and the joy, or lack of, that I have. The reason being is that most of my time is occupied by work, studying and developing my own business. So, it makes sense that when it comes to taking time for myself, laughing, playing and taking time to enjoy the simple pleasures life has to offer, I am usually too busy to even notice. As a matter of fact, I am supposed to be enjoying a day at the beach with my family, yet I am sitting here updating my blog, which BTW, is an assignment for one of my university classes. So I am going to get straight to the point, because my daughter is calling me to play with her in the cool blue water and enticing surf.

Quite frankly, the life satisfaction survey illustrated to me that I don’t spend enough time doing things that make me happy and that I need to have a more balanced life. I need to work on balancing work, business, play time and family time. I aim to do that right now…gong to go hit the beach. Check back for updates on how things are going! TTFN!

  5. Hudson, it seems we have a lot of similarities. What I understood from what you wrote is that you're a go-getter. You're not the complacent type, you want to continue to work hard in order to achieve success. You seem to be a very goal oriented person. In my opinion, it seems like you would gain a lot of self satisfaction with helping others. A good way to feel a sense of appreciation is by giving; I don’t mean to give monetarily speaking, you can also give time. By becoming an advocate for environmental sustainability at your current employer you will feel fulfillment by creating a culture that will benefit not only you and your company but everyone else around you. Hopefully, this practice will foster satisfaction in your life.

  6. The Life Satisfaction Survey served me to understand that from time to time we have to ask myself, who is in command (me or the circumstances that surround me). I have always tried to maintain balance and consider myself a happy person, hard worker and perseverant. But I also want to do something memorable that others will remember or try to follow my path. The survey make me realize that right now I have to meditate and work in some initiatives to take a new direction.
I like helping others, in many different ways. I also discovered that helping others is very gratifying. This course also opened my eyes to another way of helping. Being aware of the environmental threats that affect my community and taking some steps to contribute with its sustainable development. I have started at home with some little but important measures like saving water, recycling teaching my son that organic food is better for our health and why all this changes are important to save our planet.

my score is : 76, which is interpreted by the site as "My life is okay, but not always what I would like it to be. I could use some direction in making my life happier." I think the survey was pretty accurate. I have a very well balanced life and I'm very happy and satisfied with everything I have going on and have plan. But still is an indicator chart I can rearrange certain things and improve my lifestyle.

  8. The survey http://www.thehappinesscenter.com/survey/survey.php was pretty much what I expected to see. The score wasw 83. "I am generally contented and happy in my life. Feedback in specific areas might be useful."
I thinks this survey really help us see what we know about ourselves, sometimes we see other´s people behavior and judge them wrong, but before doing that we should study ourselves and see what we need to improve to become a role model for the people aorund us.

  10. Yes Ms Clark, life is kind like someone in a beauty salon, that person wants to get a manicure, and after she realizes that an hairstyle will also be fine, then says: the face needs to be cleaned, and she requests a makeup, at the end she feels perfect.
That's the way I feel, my environment needs to be like that person in the beauty salon, improving in everything that I do, Trying to add an ingredient which will give it a better value, more color and a better flavor.

  11. The life satisfaction survey that I took gave me favorable results. I think that this is a good way to measure your compromise in life and also happiness in it. The idea of this test is to be honest and feel like yourself regardless of the result. In the end lying would be fooling yourself. Also I think it is a good reference because then you can see what is your situation in life and might find good methods to improve it. This is the point of this types of tests and that is why it is a good possibility for getting better to take them.

  12. Hudson, it's good to always want to improve at everything you do. But you can't beat yourself up about it either. Sometimes it's not about adding an ingredient. Sometimes it's about taking an ingredient out all together. Living a simpler life. Maybe the value you seek comes from just having the essentials. When you have the necessities, you have all the color and flavor you will ever NEED. Wanting more would just be a waste.

  13. My life satisfaction score was 84, which labels me as a fairly happy and fulfilled individual. I would agree with this: my life is fulfilled, and I am generally a very optimistic, yet practical, person. I have a loving, supportive family, and I can give my religious beliefs credit for much of my joy and fulfillment. There is room for improvement, especially in the area of stress management (the past few weeks, for example). I could also probably use to improve “keeping events in my life in perspective”…sometimes I do that very well, but I also find it easy to blow some things out of proportion. Those were the two questions I answered “sometimes” on instead of “Often” or “Always”.

  14. After watching The Inconvenient Truth in last weeks class I felt compelled to take the Carbon Footprint survey. My Carbon Footprint is 13.94 metrics. The average Carbon Footprint for Americans is 20.40 metrics. The survey mentions a few things I could do to lower my Carbon Footprint. I has already put into place changing to energy efficeint light bulbs. I just purchased a energy efficient refrigerator. I continue to walk and take public transportation more than I will drive. Also I will start making a conscience effort to put into place some of the things I have learned during this survey.
